Paraflow is a Canadian-based consultancy specialising in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), concept design and aerodynamics.
Years of experience in the automotive and aerospace sectors has provided the opportunity to understand and develop industry-leading techniques for large-scale, high-fidelity CFD models. Equipped with this, we have created optimised work-flows for small-scale, bespoke applications for a variety of industries.
Often referred to as a virtual windtunnel, CFD is a technology used to simulate and analyse fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions and other related phenomena.
Unlike experimental setups such as windtunnels, CFD is able to output a variety of information about the detailed physics of the problem.
This provides crucial insight, effectively revealing how and why a model is performing the way that it does. This in turn enables the ability to cycle through various design scenarios, and paves the way for rapid optimisation.
Although experimental testing is certainly valuable, an approach relying solely upon it is limiting, expensive and time-consuming. Complementing these techniques (in some cases replacing them) with engineering simulation is becoming a crucial step of the design process in order to remain competitve.
